Family Matters

At Coolamon Community, we focus on what we do best: walking alongside Aboriginal families with care, respect and cultural strength at the very start of life.

We don’t collect personal data from the mums and babies who receive a Coolamon. Instead, we trust the deep relationships and knowledge held by Aboriginal Health Services. There are no forms or tick boxes — each service decides who would benefit, because they know their communities best.

Important health data — like birth weights, prematurity, and maternal wellbeing — is already collected through the Health Services. Our role is to walk alongside, not to duplicate or disrupt.

The impact of our work is captured the traditional way though shared yarning stories from Aboriginal Health Services, mothers and community. Impact isn’t always captured in numbers — but it’s felt in stronger connections, safer care, and more supported beginnings.

For those seeking data, we stand with leaders like SNAICC and their Family Matters Report, which offers powerful insight into what helps families thrive. We’ve shared below the 2024 Family Matters Data Snapshot or you can download the full report on the SNAICC website.
