Your donation helps give First Nations mother and her baby the best start in life. It takes a community to raise a child and Coolamon Community works with midwives and staff at Aboriginal Health Services to help them provide ongoing support to families, especially those at risk or in need. The Stolen Generation still continues today and we need your help to make a difference in this space.

The Coolamon Crib celebrates the birth of a child and is delivered to a mum preterm or just after birth, by those trusted Healthcare workers who look after her at Aboriginal Health Services ; this gift celebrates the birth of her child, and connects her to the local caring supportive community around her. The “Coolamon Crib” contains all those items a mother needs to support her and her new baby in those important early months, including baby’s bedding and clothing, mothers’ essentials for personal care etc.

Our goal in the next 12 months is to supply a need of over 400 Coolamon Cribs to Aboriginal Health Services and AMIHS in the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast of NSW at an estimated cost of $100,000.

If we reach this goal earlier, we will be able to expand our help to other regional Aboriginal Health Services, strengthening family supports to new mums and babies throughout Australia. Thanks to our generous Partners some of the contents of the Coolamon Crib are donated but we also need to purchase many items from businesses who generously supply to us at wholesale cost.

What will your donation fund

• $100 supplies 3 Australian Made bassinet mattresses

• $200 supplies a breast pump to a mum with a premature baby to enable her to supply nutritious breast milk to her baby who may be in a humidicrib in hospital for an extended period of time

• $1,750 provides the much-needed support of the Coolamon Crib to 5 First Nations mums and new bubs

• $20,000 will enable us to create and publish a specially developed First Nations mother and baby book with culturally appropriate, medically sound and practical advice for mums on caring for their baby and themselves preterm and for that first precious year
